Bad Eating
and Drinking Habits
We all have bad eating habits.
How do these habits affect our health and well-being? Before any problem can be solved it must be
identified. The age-old proverb, "A problem clearly stated is half
solved", certainly applies to eliminating the bad eating habits from our
daily lives.
Bad eating habits
become a way of life for many and they simply are not aware of the ill effects
of these daily habits. Eating too
often, skipping meals, eating too much, too little, eating junk foods, and food
addictions slowly but surely undermine our health.
We all have our
favorite junk foods. Some of mine have
existed for over 50 years. The same old
products are still made and they taste as good now as they did 50 years
ago. Yes, I will still nibble them from
time to time, however is smaller quantities, and less frequent.
How do we go about
eliminating these bad habits? We must
identify the food as being worthless and identify the chemical reasons why
these foods have a bad effect on body chemistry and health.
If we study all the
ingredients in the junk food, identify each one, then understand why this food
must be eliminated from our diet, it will be much easier to eliminate the
offending food from our diet. Virtually
all junk food is loaded with the bad fats, sugar, and other chemicals that
overwork the body and creates waste disposal problems.
Likely the biggest
mistake made is relative to weight loss and weight loss diets. Most people who are over weight do not eat 3
meals per day and have a metabolism problem.
The most important aspect of weight loss is to increase the metabolism
rate. Without getting technical, metabolism is best understood as "the
feeding rate of the cells". It is the biochemical process that transforms
the foods you eat into nutrients your body can use, fat it can store, or waste
it can excrete. The rate at which you do this -- called your basal body
metabolic rate --eventually dictates how much scale weight you have.
Fast metabolizers are
the fattest people on the planet. One
must make every effort to get the metabolism rate corrected. If the metabolism rate is too slow or too
fast, a weight control problem will exist while the cells are suffering from
malnutrition.
The metabolism rate
is largely controlled by the endocrine system that consists of the hypothalamus
gland, the thyroid and parathyroid gland, the adrenal gland, the pituitary glad
and their associated hormones. The pituitary gland is often portrayed as the
"master gland" of the body. The anterior and posterior pituitary
secrete a battery of hormones that collectively influence all cells and affect
virtually all physiologic processes, over-all health, energy, and the immune
system.
These glands and the
complete endocrine system only work properly when provided all the essential
minerals, vitamins, and essential fatty acids.
If you suspect you have a metabolism problem, seek medical attention,
quit eating junk food, and correct your drinking problem.
What is a drinking
problem? If we drink anything other than water, we have a drinking
problem. Drinking the very best water
is the goal. We have mineralized water,
alkaline water, distilled water, chlorinated water, well water, and oxygenated
water. Reverse Osmosis water is recognized as the best choice next to distilled
water. I know many people that have
been drinking distilled water for years with no problems. I have been drinking only reverse osmosis
water for a number of years with positive results
Needless to say, many
people are still damaging their health with water when water quality alone is
the first step to good health. Everyone
agrees that chlorine and fluoride are both deadly poisons, yet the masses
continue to ingest both.
The evils of soft
drinks are well known. The sugar and
acidifying effect of soft drinks alone is enough to ruin ones health. The diet drinks are evil due to the phony
sugars, which keep the body control system confused. This causes communication
errors within the body, production of excessive insulin, and eventually
disease. Thousands of reasons exist to avoid any type of soft drinks, diet
drinks and most of the sports drinks.
Most people never experience the thirst sensation, or at least
never recognize it. The brain turns on
the hunger and thirst sensation at the same time. They are one and the same.
Only when you drink
enough water, will you be able to tell the difference. Forget the bull about 6 to 8 glasses per
day, and 8 ounce glasses at that. The minimum is 1 oz per two pounds of body
weight. Fifty to one hundred per cent
more will benefit some people and result in weight loss. Water is the best diuretic in the world. It
should be a crime to give anyone a diuretic drug that does not have any kidney
or liver damage.
