Pumpkin Seeds, Dried, RAW
Raisin, Seedles
Sunflower Seeds, Raw
Walnuts, English Raw
Several people have tried this mix and are well pleased with the
results. Some have added various ingredients to suit their tastebuds
and make it more appealing and tasty.
I have avoided doing this because if it was intended to be the best
tasting trail mix it would have several ingredients added already.
This mixture was developed to fill the nutritional, energy, fiber,
and amino acid need of all humans.
If you simply want a tasty mix then add whatever you wish. In so doing,
very likely you will add some less than diserable foods. In addition,
most items will have been tampered with by man. This results in
additives that border on being poison.
Whatever the reason and whatever the result, please keep me posted of
any long term success that you achieve.

It is misnamed to begin with. This is a home mix, office mix, road mix
and a major food mix. Last.... it can be a trail mix if you wish.
This concoction was a process of evolution. I tried to make this into
a bar by bonding it together with GLUE. The glue was honey, molasses,
and soybean powder. Tons of work, mixing, rolling and baking.
Actually it was not baked, only heated enough to produce the required
texture to allow cutting it into pieces.
All this went against the grain because I wanted most everything RAW.
Finally I said, to heck with all this. Each item is relatively tasty
and I have eaten all of them individually for years.
The only logical thing to do is mix everything together and shake
until done. ( well mixed )
There you have the history, now the ingredients.
1. Almonds RAW
2. English Walnuts RAW
3. Peanuts RAW
4. Pumpkin Seeds Raw
5. Raisins ( as they are in the container )
6. Soybeans, lightly salted ( unfortunately, cooked )
7. Sunflower seeds RAW
Typically the ratio is 1 to 1. Often I will use 1.5 measures of the
sunflower seed, pumpkin seeds and toasted soybeans. If one is especially
concerned about sugars and carbohydrates, the raisins could be reduced
to 1/2 part or left out completely.
Optional ingredients and methods:
1. Pecan pieces
2. Roasted peanuts ( either the type called Party peanuts or Small
Spanish ) the amount of these should be less than 1 measure
3. The English Walnuts are optional as it is hard to find good ones.
4. A few people do not like the raisins. If so.... just leave them out.
5. The sunflower and pumpkin seeds are very important so I use 1.5 parts
of them most of the time.
6. After 3 or 4 batches, you will find out what you like best.
7. Some may want to add a bit of the Chex mix available in grocery stores.
( I hope not because this has man made phony stuff and chemicals that
are unnecessary and possibly toxic to the body )
Suggested Usage
All you have to do is to eat from 2 to 3 ounces of this mix two or
three times per day. Try it for a week and see what happens. You can
skip most any worthless meal, and will seldom get hungry. Eat slowly
and chew thoroughly. Drink plenty of water.
I see many people eat seeds and mix wrong. The best method is to get
a 3 finger pinch and make sure every item is completely crushed.
Remember that digestion starts in the mouth.
Comparing this mix with the cost of other foods, it is very economical.
The most expensive items are the pumpkin seeds and english walnuts.
These items cost from $7.00 to $8.00 per pound. Most other items are
in the $2.00 to $3.00 range per pound
This was intended to be a food that is good for the body and contains no
additives or man made chemicals. Go to the trouble to obtain fresh and
quality ingredients.
If you live in the Jackson area, everything can be obtained at the Rainbow
Food Coop located on old Canton road at the west end of Lakeland drive.
